So we're getting closer and closer to the final Harry Potter. Of course I can't wait to read it and find out how it all ends but it comes with a bit of sadness too that this is the last book. There will be no more waiting to find out what happens next.

[livejournal.com profile] shipperchick, has yet to actually read HBP. However she will be reading it in the next week or so - and must pass a quiz when she's done. In exchange I will "prepare" her or in her words warn her if its "safe from harry or hermione dying" in book 7. I also got some awesome 'I finished DH' icons out of her.

I'm almost finished with my re-read of HBP. I'm at the point in the book where its no longer safe for me to read it in public. This is my 4th read of the book and I have yet to get through the Dumbledore death scene with out getting weepy so I'll finish it up at home this week.

I'll be seeing OOtP with Leanna and Bo after work on Wednesday. I didn't get my re-read of book 5 done like I wanted to but I may read up on the ending again just for a refresher.

In other fandoms - finally finished the last 5 eps of SG-1. I wasn't actually sad to see it end. I still enjoyed the show but not as much as before RDA left. And I'm sorry - but if I was Vala I would have kicked Daniel in the balls and threw him out after that little rant he gave in the finale. That aside I've been on a S/J fic binge this weekend and [livejournal.com profile] shipperchick has promised me icons and a header. Yay!

I've also realized I have no idea what I'm gonna watch when TV comes back in the fall. Gilmore Girls is done, SG-1 is done, BSG and Lost won't be back until January. That leaves....House, Bones and Grey's. I don't think I've ever had so few shows that I watched. Hope there are some good new shows out this fall.

And for the 3rd Sunday in a row my neighbors are playing the same crappy music repeatedly so loud that I can hear it in the house with the windows close. ::headdesk::

...and I've been crying through the last 4 chapters. I wasn't prepared for this, I thought I had until the last book.

HBP Spoilers )

I have to get ready to take Dora to the vet...I might possibly be able to post a coherent review later today

So, I've finished 7 chapters and I'm taking a little break to slurp on some broth...and as I've been reading my mind has been taunting me with evle thoughts

not so many spoilers and a lot of speculation )

So I've been sick as a dog since Wednesday night. Cut for some TMI )

[profile] shipperchick left me a voice mail last night at 9:15 to "share the insanity at Union Square" and also to let me know that she was #896 in line. Apparently they were having a big HP party there. Wish I could have gone. I've promised myself that for Book 7 I'm going to the fest in Oak Park. They turn a section of downtown Oak Park into Diagon Alley and have games and shops and this year they had an all-day Quiddich Tournament.

Am very sad so far, my copy of HBP has not show up at my door yet. Checked the UPS tracking # they sent me and according to the tracking site the book left the Bedford Park facility (20 minutes from my house) at 9:45 am yesterday morning to go to its "final destination" and that's it...no other updates. Ummm....where the hell is my book! How is it that it's been "in transit to final destination" for over 24 hours!

[livejournal.com profile] shipperchick has promised to read me the book over the phone if it doesn't show up in a couple hours ;)
According to Amazon they have until 7pm cst to get the book to me or they'll refund my order since it was guaranteed to be delivered today.

well my soup is getting cold so I should go eat it...and I have 3 hours of sci-fi to rewatch since I kept dozing off last night.

So, I've seen the new trailer for 'Prisoner of Azkaban' and overall I'm impressed. It's not gonna be next summer fast enough.

However.

I'll have to go through the book again, but I don't recall there being a choir of kids singing 'something wicked this way comes' while holding giant frogs...but I could be wrong.

Draco and the flying origami bird thing....again, don't remember reading that in the book (are we sensing a pattern to my rant?) And the hair...I don't know, it just seems to Fanon!Draco to me. Don't get me wrong, he looks good, he just doesn't look like the little spoiled punk that Canon!Draco is.

The Boggart!Snape scene. ROFLMAO!! Completely how I pictured the scene. BRAVO!

My biggest problem is this....the scene where Snape is *protecting* Harry, Ron and Hermione. Ummm...Excuse me? From what we're being told that is supposed to be the post Shrieking Shack scene, where Lupin transforms into his werewolf self. Now, correct me if I'm wrong (and I know I'm not) but Snape was UNCONSCIOUS during that scene. Not to mention that as far as Book 3 goes, Snape is still a pretty ambiguous character, especially in terms of his motives. Now, anyone who know me knows that I adore Snape. I am wholly, totally and completely fascinated with Snape. I think he is a good guy who's made *really* bad choices and is downright, bitter, snarky, sarcastic but redeeamable.

But even I have issues with the new director changing CANON! You just don't do it! GGGGRRRRRRRRRRR!

HA!

Found it! Finally managed to track down the disc that had my latest fic (as of July) on it. Mel has tried to send me her comments on it numerous times and it never seems to get to me, but apparently there wasn't really anything that needed to be changed so here it is. As always comments are muchly appreciated.
